Music from Israel: Harel Skaat

As the years go by, I find myself becoming more critical of pop music and less into the traditional romantic power ballads and so on. However there's something about this Israeli singer that caught my ear. I had no idea who Harel Skaat was until I heard him perform at Eurovision 2010. And while I'm not familiar with all of his music, I'd like to share a couple of the tracks that I've been enjoying so far.

The song Milim (Words) was the song Israel chose to go with at last year's Eurovision contest. A beautiful number and a good choice in my opinion. I've heard versions of the song in French and English but I'm going with the Hebrew (which I assume to be the original) because for me it's the most touching of the three. Check out the others and let me know what you think. Also please correct me if I'm wrong about the language in this video, but mostly, as always, I hope you enjoy the music.

And speaking of Israeli music, India Arie is collaborating with Idan Raichel on her forthcoming album Open Door and I've been waiting impatiently for it since late Spring/early summer 2010, but does anyone know when the record is set to drop?

Thank you very much!!!! Harel is very talent !! his voice reach to a very deep special place in my heart when I listeh to him. The most beautiful thing is that no metter if you underastand the hebrew language or not his voice will touch you!!! I recomend you to continue listening to all Harel music you are going to love it!!!!!

You are right about Harel.I think, he is one of the best ballad singers ever.Like you I heard about him at ESC last year for the first time and couldn't forget his beautiful voice and style of singing.He has been my favourite singer since then.I don't understand his language but my heart understands his music.He just makes us feel his songs..what they are about.When you read the translation of the lyrics you can check if your emotions during listening match to the lyrics and you'll see how deep, meaningful and beautiful they are.Harel cares about lyrics very much and I appreciate it a lot.Besides there are not only ballads in his repertoir,you will find some up -tempo songs as well...but all his songs are very nice,I can't choose the only one or even a few I like the most. A voice of unique beauty,inimitable style and personal charisma=Harel Skaat=the best one!!!
