Miss-Tress: Concubine Chronicles 4

In Conclusion: Separation
source: http://forrestdoud.wordpress.com/2011/02/07/digital-divide-versus-digital-inequality/

It started with passion.
It was exciting.
It was new.
You were charming,
You were manly,
You could light up a room.
The first time I saw you,
In that moment I knew
There was nobody else for me.
It had to be you.
And you,
Seemed like you
Were drawn to me instantly too.
We were good together.
It was easy.
Almost effortless.
It was natural.
No science,
No rational.
That's just how it went.
We'd go with the flow
And we felt how we felt.
Only trouble was
You weren't free
And I have to admit,
You were never for me.
So I should have let it be
But I didn't take heed.
And that's the story;
The rest is history
So right now I gotta say baby,
This really isn't working for me
Anymore
'Cause it's just too messy.
Don't think I'm pointing fingers
I won't treat you unfairly
The blame weighs on both you and me equally.
But right now you need to be with your family
And I need to gain perspective and clarity.
So I guess what I'm saying in all honesty,
Is...
I think this is the end of the line
For you and me.

20/20 (On the Outside)

So now you find yourself alone.
Now you know what it's like
To sit by the phone
Until the break of dawn
Hoping that someone, anyone, will call.

Now you find yourself out on a road
And not the faintest sign of return
While the final bridge leading back home
Crumbles to ashes as it burns.

But you did it to yourself.
You can't blame anyone else.
Turned your back on all of your friends
And everyone who cares;
You cut all ties with no goodbyes.
Yeah, you did it to yourself.

It's a lonely path, the one you chose;
A page torn from some dark and tragic prose.
You know the story didn't have to go like this.
I'm sure it's not the fate you would've wished...

But you did it to yourself.
You forced your loved ones out
So you could live inside a fence
And it could all have been so different.
When you think of how wrong everything went,
Remember how much you once meant
To all the people that you met
And know you did it to yourself.

Even now it's not too late
To turn a new leaf
And start over on a clean slate.
If there was one thing I wish you knew,
It's that we want the best for you.
But if you decide to shut that door,
Then you really can be sure
We did all we could and more.
And you'll be condemned to endure
The bitter emptiness that's left;
As you sift through the cards you're dealt,
You'll have to face the fact that you...

Did it to yourself.
The happiness you lost
Was the inevitable cost
Of letting ego steer your course.
When you cut folks down without remorse,
You find the higher you climb in your ascent,
The quieter the world around you gets.
Don't expect a miracle
When you reach the pinnacle
Of your success;
Don't think we're gone
'Cause we're jealous.
We're happy for you
This much is true
But you've left no room for anyone else.
This isolation is the gift
That you gave to yourself.

In the Air

When the hunting wolf
Through the forest wanders,
Beware.
Oh beware.
In her eyes there springs a yellow light-
Her prey is near.
Beware
Your scent is in the air.

It's in the air tonight
In the air.
See it prowling, feel it coming
And you better have a care.
It's in the air tonight,
In the air,
An element of fear
And you are gonna have to fight.

You linger still in lonely places
Blissfully oblivious to where you are.
But she's been following your traces.
You're on her radar
And she's not that far
Can't you hear her voice now on the wind?

So you better run!
Run while you can
'Cause she's closing in
And you can't win
She won't stop til she makes the kill.
You better run
While you can!
You'll feel a shiver
When you see the glimmer
Of her pearly whites.
Before she takes that first sharp bite,
You'll know the stories they were right-
There is danger in the night.

Then there'll be blood
In the air.
A primal, elemental fear
As you feel the end draw near.
It's in the air tonight,
In the air.
There'll be no one to hear you scream
Or to wake you from this dream.

If you happen to catch sight of her in the shadows,
Keep your distance
She is vicious.
Take it from someone who knows.

NWO

Something's coming,
Can you feel it?
Something's coming
And you can't escape it.
Something's coming
So get ready.
You either fight it
Or you embrace it.

Let go of what you knew before,
All those old things, they are no more.
The latter will replace the former
Best get ready
It's a new world order.

So whatcha gon' do?
Which side will you choose?
Cause either way you lose-
Resistance brings its own dark cloud;
You sell your soul if you bow down.

But no matter what they say,
This street only runs two ways:
You either rise or else you fall
And this time you can't have it all.

Pay the Piper

I tried my best,
Gave all I could
And then some.
I pushed the upper limit
And I jumped the gun.

Now the musicians
Have taken up their instruments;
The band's about to play.
The fat lady's in position;
The piper's calling for his pay.

I scan the room in a heartbeat
Looking for a dark corner,
An obscure place to hide
But there's nowhere to go
Though I search far and wide.

So now it comes down to it,
I stand erect, poised and alert
Yet fragile like a china doll,
Shuddering, I close my eyes
And wait for the hammerfall.

Surrendering

It's not about the battle,
It's about the victory.
It's not the destination,
It's about what you gain from the journey.

It's not about the money,
It's about the value of your soul;
It's not the diploma
It's about the experiences that help you grow.

It's not about the struggles,
It's the rewards they bring.
It's not about all the noise they make,
It's about the message in the words they sing.

It's not about the things you hear
From the voices that whisper in your ear,
It's about the truth taking root like a plant
Sprouting from the seed God sowed deep in your heart.

It's not about the circumstances,
Pay no attention to the things you see.
It's not about where you are today,
What matters is who you choose to be.
